One of the things her mother always told Jane was to always finish her food because other kids had nothing to eat and had to feed off the trash. Her young mind searched for the logic in this, and concluded that it would surely help those kids more if she simply put all of the roast chicken dinner in the trash for them to find—salad, sides, and all.
She planned her move that night. While everyone slept, Jane snuck into the fridge and emptied all of its contents into the trash out of the pure kindness of her heart.
